New Zealand Institute for Pacific Research: Mixed-Methods in Social Research Short Course Scholarships

The New Zealand Institute for Pacific Research (NZIPR) has six scholarships available for stage three students and post graduate students to undertake a 5-day Mixed-Methods in Social Research course in collaboration with the New Zealand Social Statistics Network (NZSSN). The course, covering how to use both qualitative and quantitative research methods will be held at the University of Auckland from 25 February to 1 March 2019 with instructor Dr Gordon Emmerson, Honorary Fellow, Victoria University, Melbourne. Four places for Auckland-based students are available and two places for Otago-based students. The award for Otago students will also include return flights to Auckland and accommodation in Auckland as well as morning and evening meals. Lunch is provided for all students who attend the course.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for an NZIPR scholarship applicants must be of Pacific heritage, currently be undertaking either a stage three course or postgraduate study at one of the consortium universities below;
- The University of Auckland
- AUT
- University of Otago
Recipients must;
- Commit to attending the courses and being present for the full 5 days
- Agree to write a short blog outlining how they will use these skills to further their research expertise and careers
Application process
- Complete and submit your application online below by 31 October 2018.
- The NZIPR Director will have the final decision on the successful applications
- The NZIPR Research Programme Manager will inform all of the applicants on the decision of the Director by 30 November 2018
- The NZIPR will arrange travel, accommodation for students attending the course from Otago.
